Latvian Ev. Lutheran Church, Minneapolis, MN
This morning I worshipped at the Minneapolis-St. Paul Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church at 3152 - 17th Ave. South in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The services are held in Latvian except occasionally when a guest preacher may bring the message in English. The congregation is very welcoming, as is their pastor, Rev. Maija Cepure-Zemmels. Worship uses traditional Lutheran liturgy and hymns.

freedom of the Spirit
I pray that I have the wisdom to allow the Spirit freedom to breathe where and how he will. That notion of allowing the Spirit freedom is one that needs to touch our daily lives no matter where and with whom we find ourselves.

I'm off to the North Shore of Lake Superior for a few days with the grandkids. I'll be posting on Twitter & maybe some iPhone shots on this blog -- back by the weekend.

silence
It was said of Abba Agathon that for three years he lived with a stone in his mouth,
until he had learnt to keep silence.

The interior of the Latvian Lutheran Church where I spoke this morning. It was humbling to stand in the pulpit used by many great Latvian pastors. Although my dad was never a pastor of this congregation, he too had preached here. My message was in English but I did manage to do a few parts of the service in Latvian.

consider the lilies
Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow;
they toil not, neither do they spin:
And yet I say unto you,
That even Solomon in all his glory
was not arrayed like one of these.
